Galdessa Camp

This small eco-tourism camp is set in the middle of Tsavo East National Park, with high standards of accommodation and service. From day and night game drives in the open vehicles to walking safaris along the Galana River in Tsavo East National Park and wild luxurious meals in the bush, the experienced and enthusiastic staff at  Galdessa knows how to make each day unique and exciting.

The camp has only eight luxury tented accommodation units (semi-tented thatched bungalows called bandas) spread over 9.5 acres for maximum privacy. Set well apart under the shade of the doum palms, they all face the river and the Yatta Plateau, the world's largest fossilized lava flow (over 200km long).

The main lodge.

The main lodge houses a spacious dining area, a bar, and a large, very comfortable sitting area. The thatch roof, natural stone floors, and deep, bed-size sofas give it a charming coastal atmosphere. Meals are served inside or under the starlight, or in the river lodge, a smaller lounge on the beach for those seeking privacy.

Galdessa has very high standards for food and service. Bread and pasta are home made, and the staff has a reputation of creating the most enticing dishes in the middle of nowhere. All meals are served at the table by friendly and well-trained staff.

Galdessa uses solar power, recycles waste, and has even installed a water treatment plant. Wildlife regularly use the area, especially elephants that, at 8,000, constitute Kenya's largest population. The camp is located in the heart of one of Africa's most successful conservation projects, and is lucky to have 33 black rhino in its direct vicinity. Galdessa actively supports this and other conservation projects in Tsavo.
