Tired? Stressed? Need a break? Then this is the holiday for you!
Two weeks of pampered spoiling by the attentive staff of
Hemingways Resort in the Watamu National Marine Park on
the Kenyan Coast.
Four miles of white sand beach, lapped by clear turquoise waters
provide the backdrop for your tropical holiday. Lazy days
spent by the pool alternate with the excitement of deep-sea
fishing or snorkeling boat trips.
After a few days of rest and relaxation, you are ready for the
real adventure, a two night, three day safari to the
Tsavo East National Park.
Galdessa Camp is your host here while you explore the magnificent
landscapes of the African bush, and track down the
big game animals.
This is the best of both worlds; safari adventure combined with
tropical relaxation to provide the perfect holiday.
A Galana River crocodile.
- Day One: You are collected at Nairobi Airport and taken
to Macushla guest house for a restful
day before your flight to Malindi in the afternoon. A short twenty-minute
drive from Malindi airport is the Watamu National Marine Park.
Named one of the Top Ten Beaches of the World in 1998, Watamu
hosts Hemingways Hotel, your home
for the next two weeks. Lie back and enjoy the sunshine, snorkeling
and lazy, tropical days while the attentive staff and superb chefs
ensure your holiday enjoyment.
For the more active, the deep-sea fishing is superb! With world
class skippers and well-trained crews, Hemingways consistently
tops the big game fish charts while practising tag and release
systems whenever possible to help conserve the natural population
If exploring the local area is more your style, the variety of
excursions offered by Watamu is stunning. With the Marine National
Park on your doorstep, and the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest, Mida Creek
Mangrove Reserve and Gede Ruins within a five kilometer radius,
there is no shortage of possibilities for exploration!
- Day Seven: Leave Watamu to travel to Galdessa
Camp on the banks of the Galana River in Tsavo East National
Park. A small, personal, luxurious camp, Galdessa offers all the
comforts of a top class hotel in the depths of the African Savannah!
Built entirely from local materials, Galdessa blends into the
landscape; elephant and buffalo wander by, heedless of your presence.
Combining the comforts of the western world with the untamed wilderness
of Africa, Galdessa offers the best of both worlds to those lucky
enough to visit! Galdessa is also closely involved with the nearby
Kenya Wildlife Service Rhino Sanctuary, and you have an excellent
chance of viewing this extraordinary and rare animal here.
Tsavo East National Park is huge. Over 11,747 square kilometers
of bushy grasslands, open plains, and semi-arid acacia scrub make
up Kenya's oldest and largest Game Park. Tsavo is credited with
one of the world's leading biodiversity strongholds. From red
brown rivers surrounded by green grass and doum palmtrees, to
the endless plains, covered in red dust, with perhaps a single
surviving acacia tree, the scenery is constantly changing. Tsavo's
stunning views over the plains of Africa include the largest lava
flow in the world, the Yatta Plateau, Mudanda Rock, which resembles
a smaller version of Ayers Rock, and the incredible Lugard Falls.
If the scenery isn't enough for you, don't worry! Tsavo abounds
with elephant, buffalo, giraffe, and lion. And while you are chasing
the 'big ones', there are always waterbuck, gazelles, zebra and
kudu to watch. Not to mention over 500 species of birds!
- Day Nine: Return by road to Watamu for a few more relaxing
days at Hemingways.
- Day Fourteen: Return flight to Nairobi in order to catch
your return flight to Europe.
