JK Mara Camp

This peaceful, 7 tent camp is located just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve, on a community ranch that borders the Reserve. Nestled into the Acacia tree grove, on the edge of a small, seasonal river, this lovely camp offers fine food, excellent service and all the comforts of home, but under canvas.

Each large, extremely comfortable tent has its own, ensuite flushing toilet and hot water shower. The beds are either full size twins or six foot King size doubles depending upon your choice. The tents have solar powered lighting for the nights and each has a private verandah area that runs the full length of the tent. The perfect place to relax in during the heat of the day!

The central mess tent has a well stocked bar and comfortable chairs with a small reference library for checking out the birds and animals that you've spotted during the day. The staff are always on hand to make sure that you are well served and the food is simply delicious - full English breakfasts, lovely salads and cold cuts or quiches for lunch and sit down three course diners in the evenings.

The camp specializes in introducing its clients to the Masai culture, you'll have the chance to walk through the wilderness with your Masai hosts in search of the plants used for medicines; be able to visit the homes of the staff as a welcome guest, not as a tourist and you can take advantage of the evenings to try out a night game drive before returning back to camp for dinner.

The wildlife in the area knows no boundary between the ranch land and the Reserve area, and the camp is often visited by lion, elephant, buffalo and many of the plains antelope. It's a truly magical wilderness experience.
